Apprenticeship programme has rewards

Commitment to apprenticeship training is to the forefront of Fero's management programme.

After six years at Fero Group and two solid years of electrical training and experience, Stephen Reynolds is on the verge of getting his ticket.

Stephen has attained a Certificate III in electro-technology and later this year will sit his Certificate IV exam to become fully qualified.

His tasks take him around the Fero complex sorting out electrical problems wherever they may occur.

“What I enjoy most is the fault-finding aspect of the job and the challenge of fixing the machine with few clues as to why it stopped working in the first place.

“It’s great when you get the machine up and running again,” Stephen said.

One of two electricians on the job, Stephen looks after general maintenance, fault fixing, some electrical insulation and breakdown servicing.

When he’s not sparking his enthusiasm at work, Stephen likes to head to the gym: “I waste an exorbitant amount of time lifting heavy weights at the gym,” he said.

Other pursuits of the 31-year-old from East Cannington include four-wheel-driving in the bush.
