Gorgon project surges on

May 7, 2013

Fero has been busy with its supply of products to the Gorgon oil and gas project on Barrow Island in Western Australia’s north-west.

About 20,000 tonnes have been passing through Fero’s quarantine zone en route to Barrow Island for client Leighton’s.

Fero’s Sales Manager Reinforcing, Jamie Buchanan, said: “The site is a very sensitive environment and there are a lot of environmental concerns to be addressed when sending product there.

“We have extremely tight quarantine measures that we have to adhere to in order to fulfil the contract – the end result of which is steel (bar, mesh etc) wrapped inside protective plastic as per the pictures.

“These containers are inspected by the client and then shipped to the remote site,” he said.

Fero has been fulfilling the order since 2011.
