Technical Services

Technical sales

Our technical sales team provides extensive engineering skills and knowledge and a sound understanding of construction design and product specification to assist in identifying project and customer needs.

With the depth of engineering certifications, broad practical worksite experience and sound commercial acumen, our team has the knowledge and the skills to ensure you get the right advice and products for the job.

Pre-sale estimating

To ensure the quantity of products is understood prior to ordering, our qualified and experienced technical personnel can review structural engineering and architectural drawings to provide an accurate estimate of product requirements and costs per project.

Scheduling

When your project is ready to commence, our team of experienced schedulers works with you to ensure calculation and programming of bar and mesh requirements are to definitive accuracy and arrive on site according to program. A combination of in-house and contract reinforcing schedulers ensures the right skills are resourced to meet your specific requirements.

Project management

The Fero Reinforcing team provides comprehensive logistics control from programming to site delivery and everything in between to ensure on-time and in-full loads. Full-time project management is given to all projects supplied by Fero Reinforcing ensuring you receive in-full and on-time deliveries, every time.

Manufacturing

As the manufacturer, complex bar processing and working with design alternatives for reinforcing combinations is where Fero Reinforcing offers real innovation. Providing the link between international design and product offerings and your site requirements becomes simplified with the vast array of supplier alternatives available.

In-House Testing

In delivering product certainty and ensuring conformance to meet design specifications, Fero Reinforcing runs scheduled destructive and non-destructive testing on both reinforcing bar and mesh products. By having in-house testing equipment and an accredited quality management system, Fero Reinforcing has full control of ensuring efficient and accurate testing results flow back to the Operations team.

Third-Party Certification

Fero is now ACRS approved. What does that mean? It means that Fero has achieved the highest standards possible when it comes to quality assurance with its Reinforcing Bar. While ISO approved in the past, Fero is now accredited with the Australian Certification Authority for Reinforcing Bar. ACRS administers an industry-based, independent, third-party product certification scheme, certifying reinforcing, pre-stressing and structural steels to Australian Standards.

Why is ACRS necessary? The globalisation of the steel industry and the increase in the number of domestic processors has created the potential for the supply of reinforcing steel of unconfirmed origin and quality. Due to the strong focus on quality and safety in the Australian construction industry, local builders have come to expect construction materials to comply with all relevant Australian Standards.

However, with reinforcing steel and pre-stressing strand now being sourced from various suppliers within Australia and from other parts of the world, designers, specifiers and contractors can no longer necessarily assume that the reinforcing steel delivered to site will continuously meet their requirements. It is essential that Australia has an independent product certification scheme to ensure that we do not allow our construction standards to be eroded through the supply of potentially non-complying materials.
